Birmingham Legion FC is proud to introduce Forged for Battle, the club’s new secondary kit inspired by the USS Alabama and the history it carries for our state.
The USS Alabama, also known as the “Mighty A,” is one of the most recognizable symbols of military history in Alabama. The battleship served during World War II, earned nine Battle Stars, and now rests in Mobile at USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park.
For many people across the state, the ship is more than a landmark. It is a reminder of service, sacrifice, and the generations of Alabamians who have served. That connection is what inspired this kit.
The design brings those details into the jersey in a subtle but meaningful way.
The embossed pattern is inspired by the semaphore of the USS Alabama’s call sign, tying the kit back to the ship’s communication system and identity. The gold trim is a nod to the anchor wheels, representing strength, stability, and the club’s place anchored in the Alabama community.
The white collar takes inspiration from naval uniforms while also giving the jersey a classic soccer look. The outline of the USS Alabama on the hip is a direct tribute to the ship and the story behind the kit.
As part of the launch, Birmingham Legion FC has made a donation to USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park to support its work preserving the ship and sharing its history with future generations.
Forged for Battle was created to represent more than a matchday look. It is a piece of Alabama history, carried by the club and worn by the supporters who make this community what it is.
